IPL (Intense Pulse Light Therapy)

IPL stands for Intense Pulse Light therapy.  It is a type of light treatment, so called Photo- facial, that uses strong pulses of light to improve the colour and texture of your skin without surgery. The light energy is absorbed by specific targets in the skin such as brown pigment (melanin) red pigment (haemoglobin) and hair follicles, to produce a selective photo-thermal damage on these specific structures, while sparing the surrounding tissues.

What can we treat with IPL?

Brown pigment, pigmentation of various types resulting from ageing and sun exposure.

Sun-damaged skin typically presents with hyperpigmentation, and solar lentigos, that is patches of darkened skin also known as ‘age spots’.

Acne, active acne or pigment irregularities as a result of previous/recent acne flareups

Rosacea, diffuse skin redness typically occurring on the cheeks, teleangectasias, that is visible enlarged or broken blood vessels, spider veins, port wine stains, cherry angiomas (small pink or red bumps).

Heating up skin dermis results in collagen production and this allows to reduce skin pores.

IPL is basically an “allrounder” with virtually no downtime.

It allows us to treat pigmentation, redness, sun-damage, acne, and skin texture issues.

The most important condition in order for the laser device to be safe and effective is to strictly avoid sun exposure or fake tan for 1 month prior to treatment.
